On Saturday the 14th of June European Tour player David Howell is coming to Ely to play 18 holes. If you would like to play 9 holes with David we are holding a raffle in aid of the Captains Charity. Tickets are just £5 each and available from the proshop. For just £5 you could be lucky enough to play alongside a Ryder cup winner, BMW Champion and current Dunhill links Champion. David will be on hand to talk with you during the 9 holes about his experiences and help you with your golf.

Captain Pro Challenge match proves to be a Knockout!

On Wednesday the first Captain pro match took place with Ian "Monty" Bridgeman and Paul Filby taking on Dave and myself. After 6 holes Dave and I were one up and everything was going nicely. On the 7th I hit my drive up the right hand side and walked ahead to go and find my ball, seconds later I hear a cry of "FORE" and although I managed to turn away I couldn't get out of the way and the ball hit me in the back of the head and knocked me out for around 15-20 seconds.

As I'm sure you'll realise we didn't carry on our match after this. Thankfully I am ok and the lump on the back of my head has gone down. The point to me telling you this is never walk in front of a playing partner, regardless of ability or if you think you are safe, it's not worth the risk.

Ladies May Fayre

On Wednesday the Ladies May Fayre took place. It was great to see so many ladies supporting the event especially as there was a trolley ban due to the amount of rain that fell the previous day. Thank you to the Ladies Captain and all of her helpers who did a great job throughout the day and as a result helped to raise £733 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

ATTENTION GOLFERS

Attention all members who play in competitions. Before you submit your scorecards PLEASE make sure you have done the following:

* Entered your score into the computer in the foyer
* Make sure your name and handicap are filled in correctly on the scorecard
* Check your scorecard is correct and signed by you and the marker

Lastly, please make sure you hand your card in after you have played in a competition. When scorecards are missing it takes double the time to close the competition and publish the results. All scorecards that aren't signed or returned after the round will result in disqualification from the competition so please follow the simple steps above.
