Stay safe this summer on the golf course - SIP, SLAP, SLOP

SIP
- plenty of water

We all love playing golf in this nice weather however, the dangers of playing during these hot days can soon catch any of us out. It's important to stay hydrated and its advised that you take a sip of water at the start of every hole you play. Avoid drinking alcohol or sugary fizzy drinks as these can cause dehydration. Even after your round it is worth drinking plenty of water and not rushing into the bar to have that pint as your body will have to work so much harder processing the sugars.

SLAP - on a hat and sunglass

Try to stay in the shade as much as possible, use your umbrella for cover from the sun, wear a wide brim hat and good quality sunglasses to avoid UV damage to your eyes. We all underestimate the power of the sun while we leisurely walk around the golf course, try following our simple advice to enjoy your golf and stay safe in the hot weather.

SLOP - on some sun cream

Also protecting yourself from the sun is vitally important as we spend on average 4 hours playing 18 holes. Most of us all love a nice tan but it really is advisable to cover up as much as you can while out in the sun. Sun cream is also a must for all golfers and we recommend using one with at least an SPF of 30. It's also advisable to apply sun cream around 30 minutes before you play as this will give it plenty of time to fully absorb into your skin. Re applying sun cream should happen every two hours to make sure you are fully protected during your round.

PING i200 irons - the ultimate blend of forgiveness, distance and accuracy

Since their launch a few months ago the PING i200 irons have been the most popular choice for golfer of all abilities who want a great looking iron that offers superb forgiveness and distance. PING made the face of this iron 30% thinner than its predecessor to help increase ball speeds across the face and increase your distances. To give these clubs a very soft feel PING have developed a new elastomer insert that activates upon impact helping to dampen vibrations and give you a softer feel.

These iron really are superb and are suitable for every level of golfer out there, even Lee Westwood has these in his bag as they are that good. We have a great range of shafts available in our demo selection so if you are considering upgrading your irons please come and talk to us and we can give you an i200 7 iron to try.

Oakley Sunglasses - Try Before you Buy

Oakley have been the number 1 eye wear brand in golf for many years now. You will often see the likes of Henrik Stenson, Ian Poulter, Zach Johnson, Adam Scott, Bubba Watson and many more using Oakley sunglasses. Wearing good quality sunglasses wont only give you more definition from what you see but they will also help protect your eyes against harmful UV rays.

For a limited time, we have a pair of Oakley Prizm sunglasses available for you to try for 18 holes to see the amazing benefits these superb quality sunglasses can bring to your game. Come and see us in the pro shop to find out more.
