Welcome the 2016 Captains and thank you to the Captains of 2015

Last Saturday saw the 2015 Captains (Mick Munnelly, Ruthie Ashton and John Papworth) putt out to end their year of Captaincy. This left the stage clear for the 2016 Captains to drive in to officially start their captaincy. Your new captains for 2016 are Alan Todd, Eve Mair, Barry Carter (Senior) and James McLaughlin (Junior). Below you can see a few pictures from the drive in and we wish all of our new Captains a successful year.

We have just taken delivery of lots of new Golf Pride and Super Stroke golf grips. As the season hasn't really kicked off yet this is the perfect opportunity to have your clubs re gripped and give them a new lease of life. Here at Ely City Pro Shop we don't charge for fitting grips purchased from the Pro Shop so take advantage of this offer and make your clubs feel like new.

Come along to the Pro Shop and see the selection of grips available and allow us to correctly fit you for grip size. A large percentage of golfers use the wrong size grip given the size of their hands. This can have a huge impact upon the shots you hit and the results you get!

Demo Days

As you may be aware I have organised for two demo days early in the season. The response to these demo days has been great; the Callaway demo day on Wednesday 30th March is almost fully booked as is the PING Demo day on Friday 22nd April. We have just a couple of fitting appointments left so get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

The 2016 golf season is almost here and finally the weather seems to be taking a turn for the better. The golf course has held up amazingly well considering how much rain we have had since November. Sunningdale Foursomes

I haven't played in this great event for a number of years, however, this year I have entered with Ely City member Emily Slater starting on Tuesday 8th March. The Sunningdale foursomes attract some big names in the amateur and professional ranks former winners include Luke Donald, Ross Fisher and Sam Torrence to name a few. Traditionally this event used to be the curtain raiser for the European Tour season hence it carries such prestige. 

In the first round we have been drawn against a current European Tour player Toby Tree and his partner Michael Bullen. I will update you all on our progress once we return after the event.
