PING Demo Day proves a BIG HIT

Last Friday we organised for PING to come along to Ely City Golf club so members could try the latest clubs available. The demo day proved very popular with members gaining more yards off the tee and improved accuracy with woods and irons. Thank you to everyone who supported the event and orders will start to arrive later this week.

We will organise another PING demo day later in the year so watch this space for more information. In the meantime, if you would like to try or have a fitting with the latest G410, i500 or i210 irons come and see us in the Pro Shop as we have a great selection available.

Ladies Putting & Prosecco

On Saturday it was great to see 25 ladies come along to the Putting and Prosecco taster session. This session and next weeks free lesson are designed to give ladies a chance to try golf in a fun, relaxed group environment.

After the success of this taster session I’m sure we will run others in the future.

Blast Putting – Improve your putting in just 30 minutes

Over recent months you may have read about the Blast putting system that we use to help measure the tempo of putting strokes. I’ve put together a short video to explain a little more about how it works, so If you would like to improve your putting why not book a lesson using the Blast system, contact us in the Pro Shop on 01353 663317.

Coaching, Coffee & Cake

On Thursday 2nd May you have the chance to join a small group of like-minded members who want to improve their short games. The 90-minute short game group coaching will be run by my assistant Paul and I; just know if you attend, you will improve. Paul has two times available 10:00-11:30 and 1:00-2:30 and each group will only be available to the first 6 members who sign up.

During the session you will learn:

My guaranteed method for perfect pitching and chipping.
Which shot to play and when to play it to help lower your score.
What clubs you should use when around the greens to get the ball closer.
How to play a chip and run with ease.
How to play a high, soft landing chip.
How to adapt to awkward lies.
Practise drills and how to practise more effectively.

The bonus of attending this coaching is that after Paul will join you in the Clubhouse for Coffee / Tea and cake where he will be happy to answer any short game questions and give you notes from the coaching session. The cost of the 90-minute coaching is just £35 which includes coffee, cake and detailed notes.

Some of you may have already had your Augusta fix if you watched any of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur over the weekend, but it’s not too long to wait for the rest of us.

The buzz around the club in recent weeks has been growing and you get a real sense that this year’s Masters is going to be like no other.

Don't neglect your #3

A driver is a powerful beast, sometimes too powerful if a hole has a hazard within range. In this scenario, you have a plethero of options to choose from, but there is one that is often overlooked.

Picture the scene

You're stood on a par-4 tee box and there’s a water hazard 240 yards away.

What do you do?

Many of you will reach for your longest iron on auto-pilot, however a custom-fitted fairway wood might just be the perfect solution; getting you further down the hole and closer to the green.
