Never too old to learn

Last week Ken Wakefield came to see me so I could have a look at his swing as he was struggling with consistency and losing distance. After a few swings, I could see that there was very little wrist hinge which wasn’t allowing Ken to create any clubhead speed.

As you can see in the first picture, there was no hinge as opposed to the second image.

Working backwards, it was his grip that was stopping his hinge. He was holding the club across the palm in his left hand rather than in the fingers. After I changed his grip the distance gained was almost instant. The time difference between the two images was just ten minutes.

Matthew Rushmer

One of our Junior members Matthew Rushmer came for a lesson also last week and was struggling with consistency. This was down to a couple of things.

Firstly he was hitting the ball too hard with his arms and not using his body to generate the power. After just a few swings I explained to him how to start the swing with a weight shift to the right and back to the left and the results where amazing. This gave Matthew a more dynamic golf swing rather than a swing focused on his hands and arms.

Mathew went on this week to win his Junior match 4/3 against Girton.

They've done it again...

When a product has been the centre of a range for over a decade you know it must be pretty special, right? We certainly think so and it can be said of the Srixon AD333 golf ball, which is now into its ninth generation.

Battle of the irons

Before we pit these two beauties against one another, have a think about how good your bad shots are? It's a bit of an oxymoron, but are they disastrous and leading to big scores or are they less penal and still go somewhere around the green?
