New Year Honours List

Many congratulations goes to Ely member Tim Rand who was awarded an OBE in the New Years Honours List.

His OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) was in recognition for his efforts leading his team supporting the final 18 months of the RAF’s Tornado aircraft fleet and their overseas operational deployment in the Middle East.

The early bird(ie)

The early bird catches the worm is how the saying goes and Justin Thomas certainly got his year off to the perfect start with victory in the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

It took a playoff though as Thomas, Xander Schauffele, and Patrick Reed all ended on -14 despite Schauffele having two putts from 35 feet to win it outright.

It took until the third time round under darkening skies but Thomas stuck a full wedge to within three feet to tap home for birdie and make it three wins from his last seven Tour starts to begin the year in style.

Ready. Set. Go.

With a new season upon us and plenty of new products arriving in your local pro shop over the next few months (more on this in the coming weeks), now’s the perfect time to wave goodbye to the old tatty golf shoes, the worn-out gloves in a pile at the bottom of your bag, and the golf balls with more scuff marks than dimples!

All you need and more
