I have one question to ask you, when was the last time you had a professional look at your putting stroke? For me it was just last Saturday by my assistant Paul Geen. Having played the week before in the PGA Seniors Championship at Foxhills in Surry, I putted really poorly to finish in 24th position. So when I returned I got Paul to check my putting stroke out on video. He noticed that I was moving my head too much during the stroke which compromised the quality of strike I was getti on my putts. After just 15 minutes I was hitting my putts much better and my confidence instantly came back.
This proved perfect timing as on Monday I represented Ely City in the Foremost Golf Professionals Championship which was held at the Oxfordshire. This is a big event with 108 professionals competing for the title. I had an early start with a tee time of 8:10 and unfortunately the weather wasn't great with heavy rain and strong winds. In very testing conditions I played some really good golf and putted much better on route to a 3 under par 69, the rain actually stopping for the day as I hit my approach shot on the 18th hole.
Fortunately the strong winds didn't drop during the day and eventually I won the Championship by 5 shots. Winning this event qualifies me for the Ashworth Cup in August which is a Ryder Cup style event held at the Belfry against a rival golf buying group, TGI. Below you can see Director of Foremost Golf, Paul Hedges, presenting me with the Championship Trophy.
We now have a great selection of club crested caps in stock. These caps come in four colours, black, white, sky blue and navy. Each hat is adjustable for a perfect fit and has a built in magnet in the peek to keep your ball marker safe. Each hat comes with the newly designed Ely City ball marker. Here you can see Jamie modelling one of the new hats.

Rory McIlroy proved why he is world number 1 last week with an unstoppable performance at the Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA Tour. With a winning total of 21 under par he won by 7 shots from Patrick Rogers and Webb Simpson. This week Rory will be returning to the UK to play in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth where he is the defending champion.
On the European Tour it was great to see a friend of Ely City Golf Club, David Howell in the mix at the Spanish Open. Unfortunately David couldn't quiet get it going on the final day and finished in a tie for second 4 shots behind winner James Morrison. This week David will be competing at Wentworth were he won the event back in 2006 so if you are heading down to Wentworth keep an eye out for him.
