Greetings from Andrew George
Ely City Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Last week saw Europe's best golfers compete for the BMW PGA Championship held at Wentworth in Surry. Over the 4 days some superb golf was played including 5 holes in one and a record breaking winning score of 21 under par by Ben An. Friend of Ely City, David Howell unfortunately couldn't continue his good run of form and sadly missed the cut. This week's European Tour stop is in Northern Ireland for the Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation, Rory Mcilroy's charity.

More success for Ely City Juniors

Cambridgeshire Schools Golf Association - County Boys and Girls Championship - 18 holes Medal at Girton Golf Club.

James McLaughlin continued his great form by winning the boys section of this event. 1st in the girls section was Ely City junior member Jordanne Sillitoe with a net 70. Soham Village College were the winning team with Jordanne Sillitoe (Ely), Natasha Bamford (Ely) and Alfie Guy-Pinkney also an Ely member. Congratulations to all of you on a fantastic result for your school and Ely City Golf Club.

On Tuesday 24th April the Cambridgeshire Junior Girls Championships was held at Ely. With a total of 36 points Jordanne Sillitoe won the 18 hole Stableford Competition. Natasha Bamford finished in 2 second place in the 36 holes event so yet again another excellent performance from our junior girl members, keep up the good work.

We have two upcoming PING Demo opportunities for you. Firstly, we have organised a Ladies only PING Demo day on Friday the 26th June from 11:00 till 3:00. If you would like to come along and try the fantastic new Rhapsody range, please let us know and we can book you an appointment with the PING technician. Click here to get in touch.

Lastly, we have a great selection of PING Cadence putters and Glide wedges available for you to try on the practice ground and on the practice putting green. These putters and wedges are only available to try until 7th June so don't delay come and speak to us in the Pro Shop to find out more.

COMING SOON

Do you know how far it is to carry the water on the 2nd hole?
Is your 8 iron really your 150 yard club?

Well you can now take the guess work out with the industries number 1 GPS measuring device, Skycaddie. Skycaddie are the only company that will actually walk each and every course to map the holes and hazards to give you unbeatable accuracy were other companies use Google Maps. If you own a GPS that isn't a Skycaddie check the 1st hole and see if the fairway bunker on the left is still there! If it is they are using Google Maps rather than mapping the course for you. Another great feature of the Skycaddie range is that you can measure your shots so that you know exactly how far you hit your clubs. You'll be amazed how much more confidence you have when you know how far you hit each club and know the yardage is correct for the shot in hand.

Prices start from just £129 and not all Skycaddie devices require a subscription so come along to the Pro Shop to find out more and try the top of the range Touch model during a round.
