Paul's putting advice continues to prove successful
Last Friday I represented Ely City Golf Club with Ely members Mike Saxby, Steve Hudson and Will Fordham at the Hadley Wood Pro-Am. Jamie also entered this event with David Cooke, Pete Rains and Charlie Rains making up his team. This is one of my favourite events of the year as the course is always in perfect condition with fast undulating greens.
Paul's putting advice on my technique proved invaluable again and after a round of 3 under par 69 I finished in 1st place, Jamie finished in a tie for 9th with a round of 74. With 50 golf clubs being represented its great to be able to put Ely City Golf Club at the top of the leaderboard.
Last week the European Tour stopped off in Northern Ireland for the Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation (Rory McIlroy's Charity). In very tough conditions for all four days it was the Dane, Søren Kjeldsen who ended up winning at the first playoff hole beating Eddie Pepperell and Bernd Wiesberger by making birdie. This week the tour stops off in Sweden for the Nordea Masters.
On the PGA Tour the weather proved a huge factor as the AT&T Byron Nelson event. Thanks to very heavy rain some holes had to be shortened to make the course playable. In the end Steven Bowditch shot a five-under-par 64 in the final round to win the AT&T Byron Nelson by four shots. The 31-year-old Australian finished on 18 under, four ahead of the American trio of Charley Hoffman, Jimmy Walker and Scott Pinckney. This week the PGA Tour heads to Muirfield Village Golf Club for the Memorial Tournament.

PING really have thought of every detail when designing the new Glide wedges which include a longer grip to allow you to grip down more on those delicate shots.
The Cadence putters come in two varieties, Heavy or standard. If you are struggling with your putting then come and see us this week and we will be more than happy to help you and explain which putter would be best for you and help reduce those three putts.
