Club Championships 2015 - Congratulations Dale Isaacson 2015 Winner On Sunday the 2015 Club Championship took place with 61 players competing to win the one of our most prestigious events. In the morning the weather had an impact with heavy showers, however this didn't stop some excellent scoring. In the afternoon summer like weather greeted the competitors and the scoring reflected this. After 36 holes there was a tie for first after Luke Ryan and Dale Isaacson both finished on a 3 over total of 147. This resulted in a 4 hole playoff to determine the eventual winner. After 4 holes Luke and Dale still couldn't be separated so it went to sudden death down the 1st hole. It took a total of 41 holes but in the end Dale Isaacson was the winner of the 2015 Scratch Club Championships.
In the handicap section of the Club Championships we again need another playoff to determine the winner. So next Saturday Dale Isaacson will play against Trevor Chapman to decide who will be the 2015 handicap Club Champion. Below you can see the top three finishers from both sections.

Goddard Cup
On Saturday the Goddard cup team had a tough test against a Brampton side that are currently unbeaten in their scratch league. In perfect hot sunny conditions the golf played by the Ely team was superb. After the morning foursomes Ely had a 3-1 lead but knew not to get carried away. Well as it turned out Brampton couldn't cope with the level of golf played by our team and Ely whitewashed Brampton in the afternoon 8-0 giving an overall result of 11-1. What a great result and well done to everyone who represented the Club.
Two highlights from the afternoon included Luke Ryan, who was 5 under par after 11 holes and won his match 8 & 7 and also Richard Butcher who was 3 under when he beat his opponent. Richard recently had a Scotty Cameron putter fitting with Paul and this seems to be making a difference.

In just 30 minutes you could be playing your best golf ever
A very common misconception these days is that if you have a golf lesson you will get worse. Well here at the Pro Shop we pride ourselves on proving this idea wrong. Just recently I helped two Ely members with their game and their golf improved instantly.
Firstly, Stan Nixon was having trouble getting a good ball flight with his longer irons so with a quick adjustment to his ball position he was able to strike the ball much cleaner and achieve the ball flight he desired. Faults like this can occur over a long period of time and before you know it you can't seem to hit the shots you did a few weeks ago. This is why we feel it's important to have a qualified PGA Professional to help you and keep an eye on your game.
Lastly, Club Captain Mick Munnelly had experienced a similar situation. During a recent Pro-Am Mick was struggling with pulling his shots to the left. After a quick adjustment to his address position and improving his posture Mick started to find his form again. His form continued into Club Championships where he managed an excellent back nine of just 38 shots.
Stan said "I can't believe how much better the flight is with a simple adjustment. I had no idea the ball was getting too far back in my stance".
Mick said "The adjustment felt a little strange to start with but after a few shots the results spoke for themselves".
