New PING clubs are proving a great success with our ladies. Pictured below you can see Barbara Clark and Pat Clements with their new PING Rhapsody woods and irons. Both Ladies have had great success in the last few weeks with Barbara winning the Capstick Cup ahead of Marion Hough who'd also recently bought a PING Rhapsody driver. Pat Clements has had a superb few weeks as her handicap has been cut by 4 shots in just 5 weeks with her new clubs! In the report below you will see how Pat also won the Brown Bowl during Ladies Championship day. Well done to you all.

Ely City Golf Club Pro-Am

It's been a busy week at the golf club with lots of competitions taking place. Below are all the results from these events.
Ladies Club Championship
Last Sunday was the 2015 Ladies Club Championships. Played in beautiful warm summer conditions after 36 holes the 2015 Champion was Emily Slater finishing ahead of runner up Tina Broadley. In the Silver Handicap section Ella Mason was the eventual winner ahead of Tina Broadley and Patricia Nixon. In the Bronze section Hilary Mead was the winner of the scratch prize while Christine Scott was the Bronze handicap winner.
In the Brown Bowl, Pat Clements was the overall winner after an excellent nett 73 finishing ahead of runner up Pat Harrison.
In the Mortimer Cup, Yvonne Thresh was the winner finishing ahead of Julie Cooper. In the part week members event Angela Lawrence finished in first ahead of runner up Mary Robinson.
Ely City Golf Club Junior Open 2015
Last Thursday was the 2015 Ely Junior Open. After a few years without the event being held it was fantastic to see a good number of juniors coming to Ely to compete in the event. After an excellent 4 under par score of 70, Jade Guest from Gog Magog won the Junior Open. This may be a new course record from the red tees as the course has changed over the last few years with the bunker alterations. Runner up was Ely junior member Jacob Gamble and in third was Ely Junior Captain, Chloe Ashman. In the handicap section for the Junior Open it was Ely member, Ben Dickens who came out on top after a superb nett 61 finishing ahead of the Gog's Jade Guest.
Ely juniors compete in National finals
This week three of our junior's are representing the club and Cambridgeshire in the National final of the English Junior Champion Club event. Junior Captain, Chloe Ashman along with Ashley Sizer and James McLaughlin will be playing two rounds at Frilford Heath Golf club in Oxfordshire. We will update you all in next week's newsletter as to how they got on.
